Clare places a strong emphasis on the critical role of design in architectural practice. Prior to the establishment of MAA, Clare was a founding director of Neometro Architects and spent 20 years helping establish the firm as a leader in multi-unit residential design. Clare has participated in a number of forums promoting design excellence, including guest lecturing at universities and conferences. She has also been a juror for the AIA awards. Clare has an interest in Environmentally Sustainable Design and has gained certification as a Greenstar Accredited Professional

Karen established MAA with Clare after 10 years working together as co-directors of Neometro Architects. Karen and Clare work collaboratively on all projects and in addition to a strong design focus, Karen also brings to the practice strengths in construction detailing, coordinating project documentation and delivery and practice management. Karen has been involved in a number of AIA committees, has been a juror for the AIA awards, and is currently the AIA representative on the building Advisory Council. Karen also supports the ongoing development of the profession of architecture and is an examiner for the Architects Registration Board of Victoria
